Bd.; and 9th, 2s. 6d. 4th Battalion Notes. ON leaving the Service, after a period of over 21 years, CoI.-Sergt. W. Donnelly was entertained by the members of the permanent Staff, when he was presented with a timepiece, and a handbag for Mrs. Donnelly. CoI.-Sergt. Donnelly has had a vast experience in the Regiment, and will be very much missed by all who knew him, especially ,on the Staff, and although he has left the :8ervice his jokes and stories are still to be lleard, he having accepted an appointment in the Barracks at Hamilton. We one and all wish Col.-Sergt. Donnelly and his wife and family many years of happiness, and sincerely trust that his civilian ilareer will be as successful to him as his Army career. We wish to congratulate C.-Sergts. Christison and Clark on the manner in which they shot at Malleny in the Scottish Army Rifle Meeting this year, and hope that at their next endeavour they will do better. The Permanent Staff Annual Shoot took place on 'Cadzow Range on Tuesday, 27th September, 1910, in good weather, but rather 3 tricky wind prevailed throughout the day. The conditions of the shoot were 7 rounds at 200 yards (at a brown disc similar to that .of the Grove Cup competition, Scotti&h Army Rifle Meeting), 5 rounds at 500 yards, and 5 rounds at 600 yards, at 2nd class figure targets, Musketry Regulations (no sighting shots allowed). The best aggregate to receive the Silver Cup and £1; 2nd and Srd money prizes of 15s and 10s. ' A very close competition it proved to be, in so far that the best three scores were 50, 50, and 49-C.-Sergt. Innes and Sergt.-Bugler Mowatt, who tied with 50, C.-Sergt. lnnes receiving the 1st place on having the best score at 600 yards, and Sergt. Hersey getting Srd place with a score of 49. The highest 'score at the snap-shooting was made by Bugler Marr, 25 points-a very creditable performance. . The highest score at 500 yards was made by L.-Corpl. Thomson, he having made 19 points. The Sergeanta had a scurry on at 500 yards. The three top scores were C.-Sergt. Clark, Sergt.-Bugler Mowatt, and Sergt. Self. 600 yards being considered the most difficult range, it was decided to allot three special prizes for the best scores here, which resulted in Sergt. Self getting 1st, C.-Sergt. M'Neill2nd, and C.-Sergt. lnnes third. In the evenng the Sergeants spent a pleasant hour together, when the Cup and other prizes were presented to the successful competitors. Speeches were made and suitably replied to, and all were heartily satisfied with the day's sport, which was fittingly concluded by singing the National Anthem. SOORES.
