Though the season has been mueh colder tha.n iBuBual for. this part of Ireland. there being a consider· able amount of snow and h!l.il in the latter half of December and firRt half of Janua.ry, hunting W!l.S only a.cturuly stopped three days hy frost, and that towards the end of January. OpiniLns will naturally differ as to the best da.y we have }vtd, but I myself unhesitatingly ca.st my vote in favour of the U.H. day when hounds met at Clonmult on the 27th December. Clonmult is about 18 miles from Cork. We trained to }Iiddleton, whence we ha.cked on about :1 miles to the meeting place. <strong>The</strong>re, after drawing Clonmult Glen, the young plantation, and Mr. Murphy's GorsE' blank, we found at Ba.rra.foona the hounds, a.fter a very fast run with only one check, killing in the open close to Ballytrasna House. If i~ Wal'l an inch. it was 15 miles as hounds ran, a.nd tIle tinu,> was an hour and thirty minutes. M., C .. and F. were the lucky ones who w'ere fortunate enough to be out on thiK grand day. AS1'egards the worst da.y, there a.re no two opinions-viz., the meet at Ballynacarty Rmithy. thrt'e miles north of Mogeely. <strong>The</strong>re wert' four of Ul! out for this meet-M., K., B., a.nd C.-on the 14th February. and as it was about 20 miles from Cork we trained to .M:ogeely. It wa.s a. da.y of continuous, cea.seless rain. mill1l,'l£d with hail and sleet, a tea.ring gale of wind blowing, !',nd bitterly cold.
