<strong>Test<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>in</strong> a Jo<strong>in</strong>t <strong>Environment</strong> <strong>Roadmap</strong><br />

(SEDRIS), a program run by the Defense Model<strong>in</strong>g and Simulation Office (DMSO), has<br />

established a process to standardize and unify the multitude of environment def<strong>in</strong>itions,<br />

<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g those developed by non-DoD activities. Not only do these standards need to be<br />

adopted, but the Department also needs to re-energize the Model<strong>in</strong>g and Simulation Executive<br />

Agents for Terra<strong>in</strong>, Oceans, and Air and Space. The Department needs to ensure adequate<br />

<strong>in</strong>vestment is <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> budgets to satisfactorily populate DMSO's Master <strong>Environment</strong> Library<br />

to support the conduct of test<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a jo<strong>in</strong>t environment.<br />

An overview of capability of systems eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g, test, tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and experimentation<br />

facilities that can be <strong>in</strong>tegrated to contribute to test<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a jo<strong>in</strong>t environment <strong>in</strong>cludes:<br />

Jo<strong>in</strong>t Distributed Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g Plant (JDEP):<br />

Navy Distributed Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g Plant (NDEP):<br />

Center for Doma<strong>in</strong> Integration: Air Force operational and developmental test bed<br />

Comb<strong>in</strong>ed Test and Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Support Facility: <strong>Army</strong> test bed for C3 systems, ma<strong>in</strong>ly<br />

systems eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g, but expand<strong>in</strong>g capabilities for DT test<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Jo<strong>in</strong>t Interoperability Test Command (JITC): multitude of labs beyond JDEP<br />

System of Systems Integration Lab: - <strong>Army</strong> distributed capability for Systems eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g<br />

and DT, support to OT and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g for Future Combat System program)<br />

Service Battle Labs: can be l<strong>in</strong>ked together for force development experiments and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

Mar<strong>in</strong>e Corps Systems Command: distributed C2 lab<br />

Jo<strong>in</strong>t Battle Center (JBC): JFCOM’s Jo<strong>in</strong>t C4ISR Battle Center (JBC) is an essential<br />

<strong>in</strong>strument to improve jo<strong>in</strong>t C2 warfight<strong>in</strong>g capabilities by prototyp<strong>in</strong>g and assess<strong>in</strong>g timely<br />

solutions to meet jo<strong>in</strong>t force capability needs and by conduct<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>teroperability demonstrations<br />

under its Interoperability Technology Demonstration Center (ITDC). JBC provides end-to-end<br />

analysis and validation of functional capabilities through its operational and <strong>in</strong>teroperability<br />

assessments early <strong>in</strong> the lifecycle of a program. The ITDC specifically addresses jo<strong>in</strong>t<br />

operational, system-of-systems, technical, software, and procedural <strong>in</strong>teroperability.<br />
