CDMs - Clean Development Mechanisms
Approved CDMs
Since 2005, Argentina has obtained approval for
15 projects, 11 on a large scale and 4 on a small
scale, including one agricultural project.
REDD (Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation
and Degradation)
Regarding REDD and the conservation and sustainable
management of forests, Argentina emphasises
that this issue should be an essential aspect of
the global agreement to be forged in Copenhagen,
underlining the potential role that can be placed in the
mitigation of GHGs and in sustainable development.
The issues discussed and decisions taken should be
based on the principle of common but differentiated
responsibilities, taking into consideration the implications
that could be involved in the sustainable
development of countries.
The efforts realized by the countries to reduce
emissions resulting from deforestation and forest
degradation should be countered with the help of
sufficient financial resources and other positive
incentives from developed countries. These funds
should not simply be given out when developing
countries reduce their deforestation rates, rather a
spirit of cooperative action should be fostered on
a large scale, as this could lead to the successful
achievement of common goals as well as to the
sharing of risks involved in the process.
