Londra’da düzenlenen geleneksel Wimbledon Tenis
Turnuvası bu sene de birçok tenis severi bir araya
getirecek çekişmeli müsabakalara ev sahipliği yapıyor.
Şampiyonanın biletleri başvurular sonrasında yapılacak
ulusal kurayla belirleniyor. Kurada kazananlar, ardından
ücreti ödeyerek biletlerine sahip olabiliyor. Bir başka
deyişle mücadele henüz karşılaşmalar start almamışken
müstakbel izleyiciler arasında başlıyor. 1877 yılında
düzenlenmeye başlayan ve çim kortta oynanan tek grand
slam turnuvası olan Wimbledon turnuvasının eski yıllara
ve âdetlere dayanan ilginç kuralları var. Örneğin tüm
tenisçilerin beyaz giyme zorunluluğu… Korta giriş ve
çıkışlar bile belirli protokollere uygun olarak yapılıyor.
25 Haziran Pazartesi günü başlayan turnuva süresince
bazıları haricinde tüm kortlar her gün 10.30’da
açılıyor. Program henüz netlik kazanmamış olsa da
her sene olduğu gibi tahmini bir program söz konusu.
1.-7. günler arasında erkekler ve kadınlar teklerde
yarışacak. Aynı hafta içinde junior kategorilerinin de
kızlar ve erkekler olarak ayrı müsabakaları var. Yine
aynı hafta programda karışık çiftlerin maçları yer
alıyor. 8.-13. günler arasında erkek ve kadın tekli
kategorilerde dördüncü raunt maçları gerçekleştiriliyor.
Turnuvanın son cumartesi gününde tek kadınlarda
final karşılaşmaları, pazar günü ise tek erkeklerde final
karşılaşmaları yapılıyor. Kortların büyük kısmının üzeri
kapatılıyor böylelikle Londra’nın yağışlı havalarından
etkilenilmiyor; oyunlar keyifle oynanıyor ve
seyrediliyor.

The traditional Wimbledon Tennis Tournament once
again hosts competitive matches this summer to bring
together many tennis fans. The recipients of the tickets
for the championship will be determined based on a
national draw held after the applications. Those who
win the draw will then be able to get their tickets by
paying the cost. In other words, the competition among
potential viewers begins well before the matches take
place. First held in 1877, the Wimbledon is the world’s
only grand slam tournament held on a grass court, and
it’s got some interesting rules that date back to previous
years and traditions. For instance, the requirement that
all tennis players wear white... There are even certain
protocols that govern how people enter and exit the
court. The tournament starts on Monday, June 25, with
all courts except for some of them opening at 10.30
every day throughout the tournament. Even though the
program isn’t set yet, there’s an estimated program just
like every year. Men and women will compete in singles
between the 1 st and 7 th days. That same week, junior
categories hold separate matches for men and women.
The mixed couples’ matches are also on the program that
week. Between the 8 th and 13 th days, the fourth-round
matches are held between men’s and women’s singles
categories. On the last Saturday of the tournament,
finals are held for women’s singles, while finals are held
for men’s singles on Sunday. A large part of the courts
are closed over to avoid being affected by London’s rainy
weather; games are played and viewed with pleasure.
