Pupil F has shown that she underst<strong>and</strong>s the creative process. She has investigated the properties of<br />

materials with enthusiasm <strong>and</strong> imagination. She has experimented with sewing techniques (h<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

machine) <strong>and</strong> scrunched, woven, layered, punched, burned <strong>and</strong> combined paper with other materials<br />

(wire, fabric, acetate).<br />

Creating art, craft <strong>and</strong> <strong>design</strong>:<br />

Pupil F has freely <strong>and</strong> independently experimented with many techniques. She has manipulated paper to<br />

create <strong>and</strong> combine rich textures <strong>and</strong> different effects of light <strong>and</strong> shadow.<br />

Context<br />

This work was part of an extended project on the theme of light <strong>and</strong> shadow, in which pupils studied the work<br />

of the artists Christian Boltanski, Sue Webster, Cornelia Parker <strong>and</strong> Tim Noble before conducting their own<br />

art experiments.<br />

In this sequence of activities, pupils made their own structure in paper <strong>and</strong> then experimented with<br />

photography to create light (including coloured light) <strong>and</strong> shadow effects.<br />
