44. Methodist Council Assembly; and (ii) if not already a member of the Methodist Church, have signified the intention of seeking to become a member. All such persons shall be nominated to serve for a period of two years. The Youth President, after consulting any former Council representatives still under 23, shall appoint an eligible person as a substitute for any nominee who at the time for first appointment by the Conference is ineligible by reason of not being a member of the Methodist Church. (13) Subject to Standing Orders, the each sessions of the Assembly defined in clause (3) (ii) and (3)(iii) of this Standing Order shall have the power to regulate their own procedures. 417A Children and Youth Assembly Representatives. (1) The Synod shall make provision for ensuring that children and young people connected with the life of the Methodist Church within the District attend the sessions of the Children and Youth Assembly in accordance with Standing Order 250(6). 44/5. The Conference amends SO 510 as follows:- 510 Constitution. (1) Subject to clause (2) below and Standing Orders 511, 512 and 512A the Circuit Meeting shall consist of: (i) ..... (ii) any other persons who are stationed or residing for the purposes of the stations in, or whose names appear under the number of, the Circuit in accordance with clause (4) of Standing Order 785, and who have informed the Superintendent by 1 September of their wish to be members of the Circuit Meeting for the ensuing connexional year, except that any person stationed in one circuit but residing in another for the purposes of the stations is eligible to be a member, under this head, of the Circuit Meeting of the latter Circuit only; 44/6. The Conference amends SO 610 as follows:- 610 Constitution. (1) Subject to Standing Orders 511 and 611, the Church Council shall consist of: (4) The ministers, probationers and workers referred to in clause (1)(i) above shall be: (i) the Superintendent and the any other presbyters and presbyteral probationers appointed to the Circuit or, if there are more than two such other presbyters and presbyteral probationers, two of them, selected by the Circuit Meeting, but so that the presbyter in pastoral charge shall always be a member; (ii) ..... 44. Methodist Council 44/7. The Conference directs that any person being received into Full Connexion by transfer or restatement shall be invited to attend the Representative Session of the Conference in the year of their reception and the cost of such shall be covered by the relevant Conference budget. 44/8. The Conference appoints Mrs Ruth Pickles as Chair of the Conference Business Committee (Representative Session) for a period of three years from 1 September 2013. 44/9. The Conference adopts the recommendation of the Council that the EDI Stakeholder Fora continue in place until 2015. 44/10. (Two thirds majority vote) The Conference adopts the recommendation of the Council that SO 336 be suspended until the close of the 2014 Conference and notes that the subject matter of SO 336 shall be overseen by the Equality and Diversity Resources Group for the same period. 44/11 The Conference directs the Faith & Order Committee, in consultation with the Methodist Diaconal Order, to undertake work on the theology and ecclesiology underpinning the diaconate in Methodism, its place within the British Connexion and its place within the universal church. 44/12. The Conference amends Standing Order 743 as follows: 743 Ministerial Development. (1) (a) This Standing Order applies to: (i) every […] presbyter or deacon in [...] circuit or district appointment, and every District Chair and the Warden of the Methodist Diaconal Order; 44/13. The Conference amends Standing Order 754 (5) and (6) by adding the following clauses: (5) The Warden may at any time appoint a person to assist him or her in such way as he or she may think fit. (6) Unless the assistance is purely clerical or administrative, any appointment made under clause (5) above shall comply with the following requirements: (i) the person appointed shall be a deacon in the active work; (ii) if the person appointed is to act publicly on behalf of the Warden, the appointment shall not take effect until it has been approved by the Methodist Council; (iii) the duties to be performed by the person appointed shall not include duties expressly required to be performed by the Warden by any provision of the Deed of Union.
