Status Report on the Master of Science in Organizational Management
Fall 2007
Wayne State College initially decided to offer just the Sport Management focus area of the Master of Science in
Organizational Management. WSC decided not to offer the entrepreneur and economics development focus
area at this time because our business faculty are already teaching overloads to support the online MBA degree,
which is doing very well (55 majors/Fall 06). The WSC counseling (human service) program (62 majors/Fall
06) elected to remain in the Master of Science in Education degree program and is not included in the MSOM
on our campus. WSC did not see sufficient evidence of need to offer the other focus areas.
As you can see in the table below the Sport Management program has undergone significant growth from 7
majors in Fall 06 to 20 majors this fall. Additional growth is anticipated as more classes are converted and
offered online.

The tables on the next pages show the semester course offerings, type of delivery, and enrollments supporting
the MSOM degree program. Faculty are currently developing online versions of all of the necessary courses to
deliver the entire degree program online.
