SEA CADET TROPHY TO<br />

T.S. PERTH<br />

The training ship Perth has won<br />

the <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>League</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Australia</strong> Trophy<br />

as <strong>Australia</strong>'s most efficient sea<br />

cadet unit for the first time in the 12<br />

years <strong>of</strong> the competition.<br />

Perth, which won the trophy from<br />

42 similar units, is commanded by<br />

Lieutenant I. C. Bishop. A.S.C.C.. and<br />

has an authorised complement <strong>of</strong><br />

five <strong>of</strong>ficers, eight instructors and<br />

100 cadets.<br />

Units considered outstanding in<br />

their divisions this year were T.S.<br />

Tyalgum, T.S Slrlui, T.S Adelaide.<br />

T.S Dement and T.S. Barwon.<br />

The Director <strong>of</strong> Naval Reserves<br />

each year makes an inspection <strong>of</strong><br />

the most efficient sea cadet units in<br />

Continuous Training was carried<br />

out in H.M.A.S Penguin from 24<br />

November to 30 November for 40<br />

personnel from the Scots College<br />

School Unit. General and Specialist<br />

Continuous Training took place in<br />

the following H.M.A. Ships and<br />

On Sunday. 10 October, the Senior<br />

Officer. Commander L. Mackay-<br />

Cruise. R.D.. R.A.N.R.. was the<br />

Reviewing Officer at the Scots<br />

School. Bathurst. for the School's<br />

Annual Ceremonial Parade and<br />

Inspection.<br />

Over 70 cadets accompanied by<br />

Officers and Instructors were<br />

present at the Annual Seafarer's<br />

Service held in the Cathedral Church<br />

<strong>of</strong> St. Andrew on Sunday. 31<br />

October, the Cadets taking part in<br />

the Procession <strong>of</strong> House Flags during<br />

the Service<br />

Officers farewelled the Staff Officer<br />

Reserves. Commander J. St. B More.<br />

R.A.N, at a dinner held in his honour<br />

on 11 November.<br />
