„Savoy balli“ esiettekanne toimus 1932. aastal Berliini Metropoli teatris. Tegemist on Paul
Ábrahámi kõige džässilikuma helikeelega operetiga.
Lavastuse tegevus toimub 20. sajandi I kolmandikul Prantsusmaal. Äsja pulmareisilt naasnud
Madelene’ile ja Aristide’ile saabub külla juba kuuendat korda abielus temperamentne Mustafa
Bei. Tema tuleku põhjus on iga-aastane Savoy ball. Ballil aga tahab Aristide’iga kohtuda kuum
tantsijanna Tangolita.
Kindlasti jääb see „Savoy ball” pikalt lavale just tänu Tomminga mõnusale
The opening night of the Ball at the Savoy took place at Metropol Theater in Berlin in 1932. It
is the most jazzy sounding operetta by Paul Ábrahám.
This story takes us to the first half of the 20th century France and describes the events in the
lives of the married couple Aristide and Madeleine after their return from their honeymoon.
The Estonian audience still remembers the extremely popular production by Ago-Endrik Kerge
which premiered in Estonian National Opera in 1982.
„... Aivar Tommingas as Mustafa is exceptionally unique, surely a non-recurrent phenomenon
on our theatre stage, he has sense of style and tact in everything that he does on stage! He is
absolutely another type than what Jüri Krjukov was but he also fills the stage, keeps the eye on
himself and has a very pleasant singing voice. Certainly, this „Ball at the Savoy“ will remain on
stage for a long time especially because of Tommingas’ enjoyable humour and the duets with
Merle Jalakas full of beans.“ (Tiiu Levald, Sirp)
