The Bendigo Hospital
The shared care partnership between the Bendigo Health Care Group and the
Children’s Cancer Centre has been established in an effort to keep patients
and their families closer to home and to coordinate patient care between the
CCC and Bendigo Hospital. Shared care means that the treatment of your
child is “shared” by both the regional centre and the CCC. We have a team
of regional link nurses who have attended various educational programs that
are specific to caring for paediatric oncology patients. We also have a team of
paediatricians who are in constant communication with the CCC.
These key staff members will liaise with the Nurse Coordinator and your
consultant oncologist about your child’s ongoing treatment.
Our staff has experience in the area of oncology and attends regular
education sessions with the CCC, as the care is shared between the CCC and
Bendigo Hospital and we follow the same protocols and policies. We are also
familiar with treatment schedules and study protocols that your child maybe
involved with.
Our aim is to make the transition from hospital to hospital as stress free as
possible, and to make your time with us a comfortable and positive experience.
