Child Health & Safety Resource Centre (CHAS)<br />
CHAS is on level 1, RCH front entry building – retail foyer. It has a wide<br />
selection of <strong>book</strong>s for adults, children and siblings about health related issues.<br />

<strong>The</strong> RCH Children’s <strong>Cancer</strong> Centre website has <strong>information</strong> like<br />
<strong>The</strong> Information Book, along with specific disease <strong>information</strong>, research,<br />
a calendar of events and an art gallery. It is also available via the Southern<br />
Health website, Programs, Women’s and Children’s Program and Children’s<br />
<strong>Cancer</strong> Centre. You may find it useful to give this web address to family and<br />
friends who want to know more about your child’s illness and the Children’s<br />
<strong>Cancer</strong> Centre.<br />
Information – Literature<br />
<strong>The</strong>re is a range of literature available about the diagnosis of children’s<br />
cancer, treatment, and impact on the family. This is available through the<br />
nurse coordinators or social workers and CHAS (see above).<br />
Information sheets on specific chemotherapy drugs are available from<br />
the oncology pharmacy.<br />
Information board<br />
Information boards are located in the Outpatient Area at RCH and MMC,<br />
as are brochures and <strong>book</strong>lets which families may find of interest.<br />
Library<br />
A parent library is in the ward at RCH and via the Nurse Coordinator at MMC.<br />
Much of the library material is funded by support groups and fund-raising<br />
groups. <strong>The</strong> library has <strong>book</strong>s and videos covering medical, childhood and<br />
emotional topics. <strong>The</strong>se are available for loan. <strong>The</strong> nurse coordinator, ward<br />
nurses, and social workers can assist in selecting suitable titles.<br />
