• Design <strong>and</strong> actual entering water temperature<br />
• Design <strong>and</strong> actual leaving water temperature<br />
• Design <strong>and</strong> actual entering wet bulb<br />
• Design <strong>and</strong> actual ambient dry bulb<br />
Along with the data above, record the tower’s nameplate <strong>and</strong>/or submittal data to<br />
indicate:<br />
• Tower designation<br />
• Manufacturer<br />
• Model number <strong>and</strong> serial number<br />
• Rated capacity in tons<br />
Record the motor nameplate <strong>and</strong> heater element with actual amps, volts, calculated brake<br />
horsepower. Record the design <strong>and</strong> actual rpms as well.<br />
Performance Test Parameters<br />
1. The cooling tower performance test must be specified <strong>and</strong> is not a st<strong>and</strong>ard test <strong>of</strong> the<br />
TAB Agency. All parties involved in the cooling tower test must agree to the procedure,<br />
date <strong>of</strong> test, <strong>and</strong> how the various measurements will be taken. The test performed will be<br />
as prescribed by NTT or CTI.<br />
2. While the following tasks are primarily the responsibility <strong>of</strong> other trades, they should<br />
be checked by the testing agency as well before scheduling or conducting the cooling<br />
tower performance test:<br />
• Temperature taps or thermometer wells shall have been installed for measuring<br />
the temperature <strong>of</strong> hot water entering the tower, cold water leaving the tower, <strong>and</strong> makeup<br />
water entering the tower. All persons involved in the test must agree on the method <strong>of</strong><br />
temperature measuring.<br />
• Provisions shall have been made to measure the re-circulating, make-up, <strong>and</strong><br />
blow down water flow rate with the proper runs <strong>of</strong> straight pipe upstream <strong>and</strong><br />
downstream <strong>of</strong> the measurement device. All persons involved in the test must agree on<br />
the method <strong>of</strong> water flow measurement.<br />
• A 110-volt AC power source shall be available at the tower site for<br />
mechanically aspirated psychrometer.<br />
• The water circulating system shall have been thoroughly cleaned <strong>of</strong> all foreign<br />
matter. Samples <strong>of</strong> water shall be clear.<br />
• The cooling tower fans shall be rotating correctly <strong>and</strong> operating within ±10% <strong>of</strong><br />
the design horsepower loading. All obstructions shall have been removed from the path<br />
