<strong>Wide</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> Presentation Dinner<br />
The 3 rd <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Wide</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> Presentation Dinner was held at the Boat Club in Hervey <strong>Bay</strong> on April<br />
25 th . 90 people attend from 23 of the 42 clubs in the region. <strong>Swimming</strong> Queensland supplied 5 MP4<br />
players to give out during the evening. Swimmers names attending the evening were placed in a<br />
“hat” and drawn through out the evening. The winner of the <strong>Wide</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> Retravision $250.00 draw<br />
from <strong>Wide</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> Championships technical official roster was announced.<br />
Marayke Jonkers was our guest speaker who is a paralympian for <strong>Wide</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> . Marakye spoke<br />
encouraging young swimmers to be prepared to compete sometimes against the odds. Be prepared<br />
to put in the hard yards and to not expect perfect conditions in which to reach a goal. Most athletes<br />
achieve their best results with some form of injury, illness or change of conditions. If you wait for the<br />
ideal scenario you might miss an opportunity.<br />
Various presentations were made to Early Achievers and Achievers squad members. Michael Sage<br />
talked about the Development squad trip to NZ and talked with Nick Parchert and Nicole Jopson<br />
both squad members. A dvd Jessica developed was played. Presentation were also made to<br />
swimmers who represented <strong>Wide</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> at State relays in December.<br />
David Towner and presented a report on technical official presentations and an overview of<br />
statistics for the season.<br />
Awards were presented to <strong>Wide</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> Age Champions, Champion Club - Noosa, and Champion<br />
Handicap Club (Noosa). The team spirit awards were awarded to Maryborough ($100) and Mt<br />
Creek ($50).<br />
Divisional Points Score winners were announced.<br />
Division 1 – Coolum Peregian<br />
Division 2 – Kingaroy<br />
Division 3 – Kawana Waters<br />
Division $ - Nanango<br />
Division 5 – Bribie Island<br />
Division 6 – Cooloola Coast Crocs<br />
Overall Champion Club – Kawana Waters<br />
Overall Champion Handicap Club – Burpengary<br />
Samantha Hamill was announced the <strong>Wide</strong> <strong>Bay</strong><br />
Swimmer of the Year.
