Nanango Amateur Swimming Club
Annual Report 2007/08
The Nanango Amateur Swimming Club has been consolidating this last year twenty six (26) competitive
swimmers with membership of forty eight (48).
We welcomed new assistant coaches Michael Gibson and Cassie Percival who have assisted coach Maree
Roberts with squad training (particularly early mornings) and core fitness training. Full credit to the coaches
in placing the interests of the swimmers first; developing appropriate programs, raising the enthusiasm and
expectations of swimmers at the Club. The continued improvement and results achieved by swimmers in their
charge reflect their dedication and enthusiasm for the sport. Many thanks for their efforts.
Financially the Club has finished the year in a much stronger position due to fundraising at the Tom Quilty
Ride held in September 2008. Many thanks to the organizers of the ride for inviting the club to participate in
the event. However unless the Club members identify and undertake similar fundraising opportunities in
2009/10, there will be a decline in the financial bottom line. More thought and effort needs to go into this area
of operation.
Membership of the Club has increased with the involvement of many young swimmers. Welcome to all new
members, we hope you enjoy your swimming and participation with other members.
NASC swimmers represented at all major State Championships during the season, invariably achieving
personal best (PB’s) times at these events. Congratulations to all who have achieved PB’s during the year;
reward for the effort put in and hopefully a sign of continued improvement next season.
At the Wide Bay level, the club has been represented at Forums held every quarter and is participating in the
Officials Technical Qualifications program. This program seeks to recognise experience gained officiating at
carnivals and encourages attainment of further qualifications. However, as more members attend carnivals,
the Club needs to have official recognition of your officiating recorded in the technical record. Please ensure
your time is ‘signed off’ by the referee at the carnival.
The Club thanks the many sponsors who have supported the carnivals and events held during the year.
Without this support these events would not have been held. Your support is appreciated. Thank you to all
sponsors.
Many thanks go to the parents of members, without your support the Club could not survive. Your
enthusiastic participation made Club nights a pleasure.
Particular thanks must go to Kim Graf, Peter Graf and Penny Brittain for the support they have given with the
organisation and running of the Club. Their efforts certainly made the job of President much easier.
Trusting members will have a successful year in 2009/10.
