PRESIDENTS REPORT
Bundaberg Across The Waves Swimming Club Incorporated has had a very successful and rewarding season,
with the number of competitive swimmers growing, successful grant applications and parent members
working towards their technical official accreditation.
We replaced the pool blankets on our winter training venue with the assistance of a Sports Equipment Grant
which helped cover some of the costs and fundraising covering the shortfall.
With the assistance of a Sports and Recreation Grant from the Queensland Government we also ran a swim
clinic designed to bring potential members up to speed on the training techniques used by our coach. At the
completion of the clinic the children were the invited to attend 2 club nights. This clinic was a great success
with our club numbers increasing greatly.
We expect to hold another of these swim clinics at the beginning of the swim season later this year.
It also provided our coach with the opportunity to attend the ASTCA Convention, in May this year. The
Coach and children are all looking forward to trying some different training techniques this coming season.
Our competitive swimmers attended many local carnivals this season, all really enjoying the experience.
Burnett Fraser Championships was memorable with 100% of swimmers medaling in their events and 50% of
competitive swimmers qualifying for Wide Bay Championships. 30% of competitive swimmers went on to
the State Championships and were very pleased with their results. We are also proud that 30% of our junior
squad qualified for the Junior Excellence Program this year.
All swimmers, coaches and parents are looking forward to another rewarding year.
Yours in Swimming
Michelle Wolff
President.
