Noosa Swimming Club
Presidents report 08/09 Season
Club Nights
Club night has been very poorly supported all year. We have a great bunch of
teenagers & but with school & training, club nights are not a priority. We have lost a
few nights to rain, as I’m sure many clubs did. Which brings me to the questions as to
whether it’s viable to run them next season?
Coaching
This season saw a huge change in the coaching role at the Nac, we delayed the start of
the year because of changes in coaching staff & the possibility of not having a coach,
all changed when Brian Stehr arrived, we have seen the club grow not just in numbers
but in confidence & self belief, we welcomed back old members, and saw plenty of
transfers our direction.
Carnivals
We have seen plenty of action on the carnival scene, from Regional to State & National
meets, the swimmers have performed extremely well bringing home lots of medals, &
the all important Pb,s. We as a club are very proud of all the swimmers & what they
have achieved this year.
Finishing the year as Widebay Champions was fantastic.
Placing 24 th at Age Nationals & 9 th in Qld with 8 swimmers competing out of a pool of
22 committed competitive swimmers was even better.
Financial
Like most clubs this season, money has been hard to come by we missed out on all
grants we applied for, lost are sponsor, club night BBQ’s just broke even. Like most
clubs we compete with Surf, Little A’s, AFL, Rugby, & each other for what little help &
assistance we can get.
Future
Looking forward to a productive season.
We have our AGM on the 20 th June & hopefully we will have some parents step up &
take on committee roles.
Fundraising is a priority next year as is increasing the membership numbers.
Many Thanks to all the clubs who provided us with such great carnivals to compete at
& look forward to seeing you all next season.
Thank you to the Widebay committee for all the hard work & assistance.
