This seminar explores the representation and performance of race and ethnicity in contemporary<br />

American culture. Drawing on a variety of primary sources and critical literature, we will analyze how<br />

various ethnic minorities have used stage, page and screen as a means of analyzing, questioning, and<br />

subverting dominant power structures as well as of defining and redefining cultural identities.<br />
