TRANSFER OF FORECAST ACTIVITIES DURING AN EMERGENCY ’
On November 21, 1943 the water main in the baseiricnt of the Adniinistration
Building at the New Orleans Airport burst cnnRing a failure itl the
power supply. Arrangements wcre immediately set up by tho Rcgionnl
Director at Fort Worth for thc Fort Worth Airport Station to carry on
the forecnRt work of tho Now Orleans Airport Station. Terniinal forecwts
for tho New Orlcans district on the aftornoon map of the 21st wero
imued by Fort Worth. Although arrangements were also made to carry
on the State forecast work that evening, this WILR not necessnry since
opcrations returned to normnl at Now Orlcans prior to the time of iaH11nnce
of these forecasta.
Such proinpt action is commcndnblo and in line with the best traditions
‘of the Bureau. Other regions should be ablc to act as quickly in a siin-
* ilar emergency. The Central Office would bo glnd to Iicar of any provisional
RrrangcrnentR for situntions of this kind.

TRANSFER OF RIVER FORECASTING RESPONSIBILITIES
Effcdve February 1, 1944, the river forecasting responsibilities for
the middle Arkansas llivcr basin were tranRferrcd to the Weathcr Burc>aU
Office, Tulsa, Okla. The ‘l’ulsa river district compriws the following
drainage area:
ArknnHaR River and tributciries, except the Crtnndinn River, from the KnnsiIR’
Qolorado line to, iind including, Van 13nren, Ark.
Effective on the flame date the Topeka river diRtriot boundaries will
be designated tm follows:
