RETIREMENT Mr. David IIaber, scientific aid in the Central Ofiico, ww retired for disability at the termination of February 20, 1944. 1Ie WBH born in Austria on May 9, 1906. JJe entered the Weather 13ureau service at Richmond, as a junior observer on March 16, 1931, and was submquently assigned to Nashville, Knoxvillr, and Washington RR awhtant. Prior to his service in the Weather Bureau he wm employed in the Post Ofice Department and the Cnstoms Service. Mr. James L. Kendall, oflicial in charge of the J~uisville station, wa8 retired at the tcrmination of February 29, 1944.’ He wm born in Grant County, Kentucky, on February 12, 1874. Mr. JCendall entered the Weather Bureau service on July 12, 1910 IM msistant, obscrvcr at Louisville, Kentucky. On December 1, 1920 he wns made oficinl in charge of the Louisville ntation and remained thcrc to thc time of hie retirement, Prior to his appointment in the Weather Burcau lie was in the Quartermasters Department at Large in tlie War Department. Mr. William D. Lee, clerk in tho Central Office, wag voluntarily w- tired at the tcrmination of January 31, 1944. IIe was born in heton, Md.‘, on September 11, 1879. ITe entered the Weather Durcau nervicc’ on July 1, 1914, by trannfer from the Burcau of Crop Estimates, Depnrtment of Agriculture, in which Bureau he had served froni Scptcmber 1902 to June 30, 1014. Mr. IJee’s entire sarvicci in the M’eatlier Bureau has been in the Central Ofice. - DEATHS Mr. Richard S. i’atek, junior rneteorologist at Albuquerque, died there on January 29,1944. He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., on June 24,1906. Mr. Patekcntcrcd thP Wcathcr Burcau scrvicc as a jtinior obscrvcr at Escanaba on Novcmbcr 16, 1987 and was latcr assigned to AlbuqucmP rn adstant. IZe has been at the latter station since January 1940. Miss Mac 13. Turbyfill, assistant observer at the Cireensboro station, died .as a result of an automobile accident on January 8, 1944, Hhc wafl born in Bpruce Pine, N. C., on Hepteniber 18, 191 Ti.
