VACANCIES IN WASHINGTON
There are a nurnbcr of vacancies at thc Central OlTicc in the Coding
and Communications and Central Analysis units. The Central Ofice
will bc glad to consider applicationH for thesr positions from field per-
sonnel who will accept transfer to Washington. Employres in the 8P-
3, 81’-4, and CAF-3 gradcs arc dcsired. Opportunities for. advancement
to higher grades arc good, depending of coursc upon R reasonable period
of satisfactory service and existing vacancies. ‘l’hrsr units providr 24
hour service and rotating shifts are involved.
A number of vacancies arc also available in other divisiom and HOC-
tions for typists and stenographers in thc CAF-2 and CAF-3 gradcs.

METEOROLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS
The Weather Bureau is again ofkring tuition scholarships for 8-montll
course8 in advanced meteorology to bcgin April 5, at the University of
Chicago, about May 5, at New Yorlc University, and about July 1, at
Massachusetts Institute of Tcchnology, and thr University of California
at Loa Angeles.
Two years of collcgc~ with 1 yoar of calculus and 1 year of collegc
physics are required. The scholarships are available to all properly
qualified citizens of tho United Sttitei, but thc Bureau particularly en-
courages any of its own cmployoes of draft dcfcrublc statuR who can be
spared from thdr work to apply.
Application blanks can be obtained from thc lirgional ORccs. The
applications should be forwarded together with a transcript of college
record to the Central Ofice through the Rcgional Oliicc.
Under this program only tuition is paid by the Government. Any
employee. receiving a scholarship rnust pay his own traveling cxpensrs to
the University and ,will be on a leave without pay ntatus after tha exhaustion
of his annual leave.
WEATHER SERVICE FOR MOTOR TRUCK COMPANIES
