Snímek o košické plovárně, kam se podle sloganu tvůrců „chodily koupat dějiny“. Příběhy, které
se zde odehrály v období mezi lety 1936 a 2002 nastavují zrcadlo historickým událostem střední
a východní Evropy. Polonazí muži a ženy zažili bombardování Košic v roce 1941, někteří plavci se
nevrátili z fronty, stavitel plovárny zahynul v koncentračním táboře… Film je věnován památce
režisérova děda, vystupuje v něm i autor a jeho otec. Prostřednictvím tří generací tak na pozadí
existence plovárny vzniká jakési „osobní kino“, prostor sám se stává modelem pro evokaci
sociální historie, stejně jako kolektivních snů…
A film about the Košice swimming pool, the place where, according to the builders’ slogan,
‘history came to swim.’ Set between 1936 and 2002, the story reflects historical events that took
place in central and eastern Europe during that period. Half-naked men and women lived through
the 1941 bombing of Košice (in eastern Slovakia), some swimmers never returned from the front
lines, and one of the pool’s builders perished in a concentration camp.… The film is dedicated to
the memory of the director’s grandfather, and the filmmaker and his father make appearances.
Using the pool as a backdrop where three generations came to cool off, a kind of ‘personal
theater’ has been created, a space which itself becomes a model for evoking social history
and even collective dreams…
PETER KEREKES (1973), režisér. Absolvoval katedru režie na VŠMU v Bratislavě. V současné
době dokončuje doktorandské studium a společně s profesorem Dušanem Hanákem vyučuje
v ateliéru hraného a dokumentárního filmu.

PETER KEREKES (b. 1973), director, graduated in direction from
Bratislava’s Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. He is currently
finishing up a doctorate, and teaching with Prof. Dušan Hanák in
the feature and documentary film studio.
