Pohádkový příběh o vítězství lásky, odvahy a veselé mysli nad pekelnou zlovůlí. V zemi krále
Dobromila se přestala cenit poctivá práce, slušnost, čest a úcta mezi lidmi. Do krajiny se postupně
vkrádá moc pekla a slušní lidé raději prchají pryč. Bylinářka Apolena má svůj sen: království
zachrání neznámý spasitel, který přijde s oslem a vezme si za ženu princeznu Aničku. Popletené
bylinářce, která svými lektvary často způsobí víc zmatku než užitku však nikdo nevěří. Když je
v kraji nejhůř, upíše král svoji duši peklu a vládu převezme jeho podlý ministr. A tehdy přichází do
království nenápadný, veselý snílek Filip. Apolena je přesvědčená, že právě on je očekávaným
zachráncem. V tu chvíli však nikdo netuší, že je to princ ze sousedního království…
A fairy tale about the victory of love, courage, and positive thinking over devilish malevolence. In
the land of King Dobromil the Good, honest work, decency, honor, and respect among people have
ceased to exist. The power of Hell has gradually crept into the land and honest folk are fleeing.
Meanwhile, the herbalist Apollonia has had a dream: the kingdom will be rescued by an unknown
savior who will ride in on an ass and take Princess Annie as his bride. No one really believes the
muddleheaded herbalist, as her concoctions often cause more trouble than they’re worth. When
things are at their darkest, the king signs his soul over to Hell, and his perfidious minister takes
over the reins of government. But then Filip, an unassuming and lighthearted romantic, arrives in
the realm – riding a donkey. Apollonia is convinced that he is the savior she’s been expecting.
No one, however, suspects that he is actually a prince from a neighboring kingdom…
ROMAN VÁVRA (1965), režisér a scenárista. Absolvoval VŠE
a katedru dokumentární tvorby na pražské FAMU. Od roku 1992
pravidelně spolupracuje s Českou televizí. Jeho celovečerní debut Co
chytneš v žitě byl oceněn celou řadou cen na zahraničních festivalech.

ROMAN VÁVRA (b. 1965), director and screenwriter, graduated from
Prague’s School of Economics and in documentary filmmaking from
Prague’s Film Academy (FAMU). Since 1992 he has cooperated with
Czech Television. His feature debut, In the Rye, garnered several
awards at home and abroad.
