9) Know the appropriate work-site hand signals and who gives them. Accept signalsfrom one person only. This person should be familiar with universal hand signals(reference chart).10) Do not allow unauthorized personnel on the machine.11) Mount and dismount the machine only where steps and/or handholds areprovided.12) No sleeping is permitted underneath equipment.13) No one is allowed to stand on the tracks unless the machine is in neutral with thebrake set or the engine is stopped.14) The operator is to check condition of the winch rope.15) The operator is to check engine oil level, water, battery and tire pressure (whereapplicable).16) The operator is to immediately report any deficiencies to the supervisor.17) When operating the equipment, the operator is to have good all-around visionand ensure that the vehicle is out of the path of falling obstacles.18) The operator is to ensure that all personnel are at a safe distance from themachine and, in particular, out of the reach of toppling trees.19) When leaving the machine, the operator should lower blade and attachments tothe ground, apply parking brakes, place machine in neutral gear and lock gearlever.20) Park on level ground, stop the engine and switch off the master battery switch.21) Machines should be serviced in accordance with maintenance schedules andkept clean.22) All line clearance work should be pre-programmed. The operator must notdeviate from the pre-programmed work schedule without permission.23) Operators must have knowledge of all safety items available on the plant, i.e. FireSuppression systems.Page 129 of 136
