EVA Air – new member of Star AllianceThe Star Alliance airline network was joined by a new member in June. Taiwan-based EVA Air becomesthe 28th carrier to join the global network and the eighth to be based in the Asia-Pacific region. Withthe arrival of EVA Air, the network has added a new element to its existing combinations of carriersand hubs, and in this way consolidated its position in the constantly growing Asia-Pacific market.Within the global Star Alliance network, passengers now make more than 21,900 flights a day to 1,328airports in 195 countries.An official joining ceremony was held at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airportto mark the official signing and sealing of the agreement. The ceremonywas also attended by Adria representatives."Taking part in the EVA Air Star Alliance Joining Ceremony was a uniqueexperience, and one that I will never forget," said Olga Čadež on her returnhome. "I attended the event as part of the uniformed personnel, in otherwords representatives of member airlines (mostly cabin crew) in uniform.It was great to be part of the Star Alliance family and meet fellow flight attendantsfrom all over the world. The organisers prepared a wonderful ceremonyfeaturing performances by local artists. I particularly enjoyed the East MeetsWest programme, which incorporated elements of Taiwanese tradition andsymbolised EVA Air's joining of a global network. I was charmed by the genuinefriendliness of the Taiwanese people – from the EVA Air staff who looked afterus, to the people we met while visiting this beautiful Asian metropolis.I was the first to step out of the aircraft, and as I waved to the audience in ablaze of lights and camera flashes and came down the aircraft steps to thepodium, where we posed for the official photograph, I felt my uniform hadgained an extra touch of glamour.
