Impact beds areoften used to allow ore to fall onto ore rather than directly onto the belt. Keeping the fed materialcentered on the conveyor belt is extremely important in controlling material spillage at transferpoints. Material fed more to one side of a belt than another (Figure 5.6) can cause the belt toshift sideways and run off-center.
