The blades throw the approaching inlet airoutward to produce high static pressures with low airflows, which creates high turbulence <strong>and</strong>eddies. Thus, the fan will operate noisily <strong>and</strong> with low efficiency due to the air turbulence <strong>and</strong>eddies caused by this condition [Bleier 1998].Fan LawsSeveral equations can be used to determine the effects to airflow, static pressure, <strong>and</strong> BHP fromchanges in RPM. These simplified equations are the general fan laws <strong>and</strong> are applicable as longas fan diameter <strong>and</strong> air density are constant [Bleier 1998]. There are also equations that canaccount <strong>for</strong> changes in fan diameter <strong>and</strong> air density, but these are beyond the scope of thischapter [Hartman et al. 1997].
