QUARTOSEPTCENTENNIAL SPECIAL SOUVENIRDistinguished Speakers'Series - Inaugural AddressDr. Geeta Menon, Dean of Stern School of Business,New York University is a distinguished alumna of <strong>Madras</strong><strong>Christian</strong> <strong>College</strong>. She delivered the inaugural address of theDistinguished Speakers’ Lecture Series, in the Anderson Hallon the 7 th January 2012, on “Business: Past, Present andFuture”. The lecture focused on various strategies adoptedin the marketing and business arenas. Noting that businesswas the creation and exchange of ideas and wealth in theglobal market place, she said that they impact the way theGovernment behaves. The lecture was organised as part ofthe World Class Business Programme of <strong>Madras</strong> <strong>Christian</strong><strong>College</strong>.As part of the Distinguished Speakers' Series,the second lecture, was organized by the Department ofPolitical Science on 14th August 2012 at the Anderson Hall.The distinguished speaker for the lecture was Prof.WalterRussell Mead, who spoke on “World economic scenario andthe changing trends in International Relations, with specialreference to the U.S. Foreign Policy". He is one of the leadingexperts on foreign policy and international affairs in theUnited States. He is also the James Clark Chase Professor ofForeign Affairs and Humanities at Bard <strong>College</strong> and Editor atLarge of the American Interest. From 1997 to 2010, Mr. Meadwas a fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, serving asthe Henry A. Kissinger Senior Fellow for U.S. Foreign Policyfrom 2003 until his departure. Until 2011, he was also aBrady Johnson Distinguished Fellow in Grand Strategy atYale, where he had taught in the Yale International SecurityStudies Program since 2008.Dr.Charles Suresh David, HOD, Commerce (Aided),welcoming the gathering.Prof.Walter Russell MeadDr.Geeta delivering her lecture27
