QUARTOSEPTCENTENNIAL SPECIAL SOUVENIRValedictory Worship ServiceThe valedictory worship service of the 175th year celebrationof the <strong>Madras</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>College</strong> was held on 19th December,2012 at 5.30 p.m in the Anderson Hall of the college.The evening began with a welcome address byDr R W Alexander Jesudasan, Principal and Secretary, MCC.The welcome address was followed by the exhortation by theMost Rev. Dr.G Devakadasham, Moderator, Church of SouthIndia. Considering it an honor to be part of this celebrationhe said, “MCC is one of the premier institutions in the countryhaving produced reputed professionals in their respectivefields”. “The masses are still below the poverty line. Thechurches and educational institutions must serve the peopleat the periphery”, he added.The valedictory address was delivered by the chief guest ofthe function Prof. Gerald Pillay, Vice Chancellor, LiverpoolHope University, UK. He praised the college for its worldwidefame and for the alumni it has produced over the years.Speaking of goodwill he felt the need for unity in the searchfor truth, beauty and goodness and felt that it is our moralitythat differentiates us from others.Talking about the 175 years of MCC, he said “Greatinstitutions are not made by any single person. Rather theygrow with time like ancient trees”. “Divine mission to liberatepeople with education makes us <strong>Christian</strong>s”, he added.The event witnessed the release of a QuatroseptcentennialSpecial Souvenir containing events organized and theinfrastructural developments during the 175th year. Prof.Gerald Pillay, released the souvenir which was received byDr R W Alexander Jesudasan.‘Christuva Elakaya Thiran’, a book by Prof. Gnana ChandraJohnson which provides insight into 32 Tamil Scholars on<strong>Christian</strong> Literature was released by Rev. G.
