QUARTOSEPTCENTENNIAL SPECIAL SOUVENIRRenovation & Painting ofthe Main BlockRenovation & Refurbishing ofthe Miller Memorial LibraryThe Main block of Madras Christian College housingthe Principal’s Office, the Bursar’s Office, the Anderson Halland the Arts and Science Blocks, got a face lift through arenovation and painting project, which commenced on 12 thApril 2012. The 75 year old structure, looked new and brightfor the start of the new academic year. Machines usingadvanced technology were used for painting. In addition,electrical and ceiling renovation work was also donewherever necessary.Renovation work in progressAs a part of Quartoseptcentennial Celebrations ofMadras Christian College, The Miller Memorial Library hasbeen completely revamped in terms of infrastructure and theaccessibility of the resources. Various new sections have beenintroduced namely the Reference section, Book Bank section,Competitive Exam section, Periodicals section, Maps, Audio/Video facility, Projects and Thesis, Braille etc., OPAC (OnlinePublic Access Catalogue) is the recent additional benefit,which has been introduced to the student community.The Miller Memorial Library has achieved its vision ofcreation and dissemination of knowledge through ICT whichin turn endeavors and empowers faculty and studentsto achieve academic excellence. The books in the MillerMemorial Library are in the process of getting bar coded forautomated circulation. Apart from library automation, MillerLibrary acquired access to many online databases throughsubscription. QUARTOSEPTCENTENNIAL SPECIAL SOUVENIRDeans’ OfficeSeparate individual cubicles with air conditioning facility,were constructed for the six Deans of the College. The facilityis collectively called ”the Deans Office”. Located adjacent tothe Examination Gallery, the office has two wings. The rightwing houses the offices of the Dean of Women Students, Deanof Sciences and the Dean of Student Affairs. The left winghouses the offices of the Dean of International Programmes,Dean of Humanities & the Dean of Research & Development.Dean of International Programmes in his cubicleThe Right wingThe Left WingReopening of the Selaiyur gateThe Selaiyur gate (Near the IOB, MCC branch) which wasclosed for a long time due to the expansion of the Velacherymain road was opened during the 175 th year celebrations.It was opened on 11 th April 2012, by Prof. RavindranathChanana, Associate Professor in the Department of PoliticalScience. The Principal Dr R W Alexander Jesudasan, theBursar Mr. Sundaraj, Rev Dr Spurgeon, the Chaplain, anda few teaching and administrative staff members werepresent at the reopening of the Selaiyur gate.The reopening of the Selaiyur gate makes it more convenientfor staff and students during rush hours and peak times oftraffic.The gathering during the reopening functionReopening the gate51
