QUARTOSEPTCENTENNIAL SPECIAL SOUVENIRInauguration of the Centrefor Peace Studies in <strong>Madras</strong><strong>Christian</strong> collegeAs part of 175 th year celebrations, the Centre for PeaceStudies under the auspices of Institute for Advanced <strong>Christian</strong>Studies (IACS) was inaugurated on the 17 th February, 2012by the authorities of the college and members of UnitedBoard for <strong>Christian</strong> Higher Education in Asia, Hong Kong, atthe Centre for Media Studies, <strong>Madras</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>College</strong>.Inaugurating the Centre for Peace Studies, Dr Nancy EChapman, President of United Board (UB) said, “UnitedBoard and MCC have been partners in various endeavoursfor many years. The completion of 175 years of MCCsignifies its unique brand of education, dedication of facultymembers and achievements by the graduates for years.Standard peace curriculum in India would further facilitateopportunities. Centre for Peace Studies will be a powerfulexponent for <strong>Christian</strong> studies”.Dr. Rickey M. Cheng, Vice-President of the United Board,the special guest of the occasion, discussed fund raisingprinciples and strategies in higher education. Speaking onthe occasion, Dr R W Alexander Jesudasan, Principal, <strong>Madras</strong><strong>Christian</strong> <strong>College</strong> said that United Board has donated$25,000 to MCC for a Service Learning Programme.<strong>Madras</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>College</strong> and United Board officials mutuallyfelicitated the services rendered by both the organisations.Dr R W Alexander Jesudasan, Principal, <strong>Madras</strong> <strong>Christian</strong><strong>College</strong> presented a citation to Dr Nancy E Chapman for the90 year service of the United Board and later, she presented acitation to the Principal (MCC) in recognition of the <strong>College</strong>’s175 years of Service to Humanity.Dignitaries on the dais during the inaugurationMarking the inauguration of the Centre for Peace StudiesPrincipal handing over the memento to Dr Nancy E ChapmanDr Rickey M Cheng delivering his lecture32
