The Office <strong>of</strong> Veterans Affairs for Melbourne campus students<br />
is located in the Office <strong>of</strong> the Registrar and has a coordinator<br />
available to assist veterans and their dependents with both university<br />
and VA-related matters. In addition to providing information<br />
regarding VA education benefits, tutorial assistance and employment<br />
services, the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong>fers individual counseling and referrals.<br />

The Military Science Program, administered from Campbell<br />
Hall, has coordinators available to assist any qualified student to<br />
achieve a Senior Army ROTC scholarship. More information about<br />
the <strong>Florida</strong> Tech military science program can be found under the<br />
College <strong>of</strong> Psychology and Liberal Arts in the Degree Programs<br />
section.<br />
The Campus Services Office is located on the ground floor <strong>of</strong><br />
Evans Hall next to the Black Kats Café. The <strong>of</strong>fice is responsible<br />
for the administration <strong>of</strong> student housing enrollment, student and<br />
staff meal plans, ID cards, residence hall card access and student<br />
health insurance.<br />
<strong>Florida</strong> Tech’s campus dining service is committed to providing<br />
the campus community with quality food and services in a clean,<br />
comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Services include traditional<br />
all-you-can-eat and á la carte locations, catered affairs, pizza<br />
delivery and grocery services. All locations accept the meal plan,<br />
cash, checks and major credit cards. For more information, visit<br />

A new state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art dining and grocery facility opened in early<br />
2011. Among the amenities are international, salad entrée, pasta<br />
and comfort food stations; a breakfast bar and grab-and-go grill;<br />
and a grocery store/quick serve facility.<br />
Rathskeller: Provides late night dining in a social atmosphere. The<br />
“Rat” also houses a convenience store; is located on the ground<br />
floor <strong>of</strong> Evans Hall and is open seven days per week for lunch and<br />
late night activities.<br />
Black Kats Café: Late night c<strong>of</strong>fee house and lounge is located<br />
adjacent to the Rathskeller and is open daily until 1:00 a.m..<br />
SUB Café & Deli: Located in the Denius Student Union building<br />
in the middle <strong>of</strong> campus, the SUB is open Monday through Friday<br />
for breakfast and lunch, and <strong>of</strong>fers an extensive specials menu<br />
along with a grill, deli, gourmet c<strong>of</strong>fee and desserts.<br />
Center Court: Located in the Clemente Center on the south<br />
side <strong>of</strong> campus, Center Court <strong>of</strong>fers a healthy dining selection for<br />
breakfast, lunch and dinner, Monday through Friday. Center Court<br />
serves a special concessions menu for varsity sports events.<br />
The Conference Services Bureau schedules on-campus<br />
venues for internal and external events and summer programs<br />
(classrooms, outdoor areas, the Hartley Room, Clemente Center,<br />
Gleason Performing Arts Center). Venues are scheduled online at<br />
http://events.fit.edu, or directly through the bureau on campus.<br />

Co-Curricular Activities<br />
<strong>Florida</strong> Tech hosts more than 100 student organizations for students<br />
to join and hold positions <strong>of</strong> leadership. Organizations represent<br />
the varied interests <strong>of</strong> <strong>Florida</strong> Tech’s students. These interests<br />
include student governance, social programming, cultural education<br />
and appreciation, fraternity/sorority membership, political<br />
and religious development, dance, music and theater performance,<br />
academic and honor organization involvement, science fiction/historical<br />
role playing and participation in athletic club team sports.<br />
New campus organizations are formed annually based on student<br />
interest. All organizations are supported by the Office <strong>of</strong> Student<br />
Activities and a faculty/administrative adviser. Organizations are<br />
provided leadership training and recognition throughout the year.<br />
The university provides varsity athletics, and intramural and<br />
recreational activities for students. <strong>Florida</strong> Tech is a member <strong>of</strong> the<br />
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and<br />
competes in the Sunshine State Conference. Men’s sports include<br />
baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, rowing, soccer and tennis.<br />
Women’s sports include basketball, cross country, golf, rowing,<br />
soccer, s<strong>of</strong>tball, tennis and volleyball. A new Panther football team<br />
will be added to the list <strong>of</strong> sports in the near future.<br />
Panther teams have earned regional titles in baseball, men’s soccer<br />
and women’s basketball, and Sunshine State Conference championships<br />
in men’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and<br />
women’s basketball, and women’s rowing. In addition to competing<br />
at the regional level, the Panthers hold team national championships<br />
in men’s soccer and rowing.<br />
Intramural team sports include flag football, s<strong>of</strong>tball, volleyball,<br />
cricket, basketball, soccer and inner tube water polo. Individual<br />
intramural sports are tennis, running, golf, weightlifting, racquetball<br />
and badminton.<br />
The Clemente Center for Sports and Recreation <strong>of</strong>fers abundant<br />
opportunities for a variety <strong>of</strong> sports and recreational activities (see<br />
“Facilities” in this section).<br />
Two swimming pools (and a new Olympic-standard pool to open<br />
in spring 2011), soccer fields, baseball and s<strong>of</strong>tball diamonds, four<br />
regulation tennis courts and two four-wall racquetball courts are<br />
located on campus. Nearby are two 18-hole golf courses. Students<br />
are welcome to use these facilities and to take advantage <strong>of</strong> many<br />
other recreational opportunities afforded by the warm, sunny<br />
climate, the Atlantic Ocean and the natural waterways in Brevard<br />
County. Surfing, water skiing, swimming, boating and fishing are<br />
popular activities throughout the area.<br />
The All Faiths Center is located on the southern end <strong>of</strong> campus.<br />
It houses the Protestant Campus Ministry and the Catholic<br />
Campus Ministry (www.fit.edu/ccm). These ministries <strong>of</strong>fer free<br />
dinners, daily Mass, Bible studies, community service, social activities,<br />
retreats and pastoral care.<br />
Study-Abroad<br />
Several study-abroad opportunities are available to students at<br />
<strong>Florida</strong> Tech through the Office <strong>of</strong> Academic Affairs. Some <strong>of</strong><br />
these diverse programs are discipline-specific and target either<br />
undergraduate or graduate students. Consult the <strong>Florida</strong> Tech<br />
