MGT 5160 INTRODUCTION TO eBUSINESS (3 credits). Introduces the<br />

concept <strong>of</strong> eBusiness and how it affects businesses, governments and people. Identifies<br />

the major building blocks <strong>of</strong> an eBusiness organizational system, such as marketing,<br />

information technology, product/services distribution and strategic policy/planning.<br />

(Requirement: Undergraduate course work in business fundamentals or marketing.)<br />

MGT 5162 SURVEY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES FOR<br />

eBUSINESS (3 credits). Surveys information technologies available for an<br />

organization’s eBusiness enterprise. Covers the role <strong>of</strong> the Internet; use <strong>of</strong> search<br />

engines for business promotions; strategies for evaluation <strong>of</strong> effectiveness <strong>of</strong> eBusiness<br />

sites; cost estimation for eBusiness site design, development and implementation; and<br />

maintenance technologies. Prerequisites: MGT 5014, MGT 5160.<br />

MGT 5163 MARKETING IN AN INTERNET-BASED ENVIRONMENT<br />

(3 credits). Develops the organization’s marketing function in an expanded, multichannel<br />

capacity to conduct eBusiness in an Internet-based environment. Discusses<br />

barriers to eBusiness market entry and their impact on the organization’s decision<br />

making. Analyzes sources <strong>of</strong> product/service availability and cost reduction strategies<br />

in eBusiness. Prerequisites: MGT 5019, MGT 5160.<br />

MGT 5166 PROJECTS IN eBUSINESS (3 credits). Students work closely with a<br />

faculty member to develop an eBusiness project, such as a business plan for a start-up<br />

company or an acquisition/merger <strong>of</strong> existing companies. Requires an applied research<br />

project report. Prerequisites: MGT 5160.<br />

MGT 5170 QUALITY MANAGEMENT (3 credits). Introduces principles and<br />

techniques for establishing quality goals, identification <strong>of</strong> customer needs, measurement<br />

<strong>of</strong> quality objectives and development <strong>of</strong> process features and controls for<br />

improving overall system performance.<br />

MGT 5171 MANAGERIAL DECISION MODELING (3 credits). Covers<br />

solving problems with decision trees, decision models based on expected value/<br />

uncertainty, forecasting, PERT/CPM, utility-based decision-making, and decision<br />

support systems. Uses case studies and computer s<strong>of</strong>tware, and emphasizes<br />

practical applications. Features decision scenarios, decision criteria and decision<br />

states. Prerequisites: MGT 5006.<br />

MGT 5211 PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACT MANAGEMENT (3 credits).<br />

Overviews in depth the federal acquisition process and introduces the basic concepts,<br />

policies and procedures incident to government contracting through the FAR and<br />

supplementing directives.<br />

MGT 5212 ADVANCED PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACT<br />

MANAGEMENT (3 credits). Covers principles, policies, concepts and procedures in<br />

management <strong>of</strong> contracts and subcontracts. Includes rules <strong>of</strong> interpretation, subcontracting<br />

terms and conditions, in-depth examination <strong>of</strong> significant contract clauses,<br />

patent/data provisions, risk allocation and assumption, impossibility <strong>of</strong> performance,<br />

product liability, warranties and claims. Prerequisites: MGT 5211.<br />

MGT 5213 CONTRACT CHANGES, TERMINATIONS AND DISPUTES<br />

(3 credits). Uses case studies and lectures to examine in depth the post-award management<br />

problems associated with contract administration. Covers contract changes,<br />

terminations, disputes and other issues. Prerequisites: MGT 5211.<br />

MGT 5214 COST PRINCIPLES, EFFECTIVENESS AND CONTROL<br />

(3 credits). Includes financial and accounting overviews <strong>of</strong> government acquisition<br />

policy and procedures. Requires completion <strong>of</strong> foundation requirements. Prerequisites:<br />

MGT 5001, MGT 5211.<br />

MGT 5215 EMERGENCY PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACT<br />

MANAGEMENT (3 credits). Covers the basic concepts, policies and procedures<br />

incident to public agency contracting. Includes in-depth coverage <strong>of</strong> the acquisition<br />

process. Emphasizes using commercial organizations to supply goods and services;<br />

contingency contracting and interagency support; and establishing organizations for<br />

maintenance and continuity <strong>of</strong> operations.<br />

MGT 5216 MANAGEMENT OF LOGISTICS IN COMPLEX<br />

EMERGENCIES (3 credits). Covers key institutional factors. Includes emergency<br />

rescue; military agencies; local, state and federal emergency agencies in the field; and<br />

international humanitarian and relief organizations. Explores emergency requirements<br />

for food, shelter, healthcare and public order. As graduating semester capstone,<br />

requires significant research or project.<br />

MGT 5217 CONTRACT AND SUBCONTRACT FORMULATION (3 credits).<br />

Studies in depth the pre-award phase <strong>of</strong> the federal acquisition process. Uses class<br />

discussions and case studies to examine the management problems from the perspective<br />

<strong>of</strong> the contracting <strong>of</strong>fice, requiring activity, courts, Congress and the contractors.<br />

Prerequisites: MGT 5211.<br />

MGT 5218 CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS AND INCENTIVE CONTRACTS<br />

(3 credits). Explores, analyzes and discusses negotiation concepts and techniques, and<br />

places them into practice using mock negotiations. Examines all types <strong>of</strong> contracts.<br />

Prerequisites: MGT 5211.<br />

MGT 5220 CONTRACT MANAGEMENT RESEARCH SEMINAR (3 credits).<br />

Advanced study and research <strong>of</strong> topical government contract management issues.<br />

Involves a significant research paper or challenging capstone project designed to<br />

demonstrate mastery over the complete curriculum. Prerequisites: MGT 5211.<br />

MGT 5231 GOVERNMENT CONTRACT LAW (3 credits). Focuses on the<br />

method rather than the material. Uses the case method <strong>of</strong> study and basic source<br />

material to cover all facets <strong>of</strong> procurement law. Emphasizes legal methods, logic and<br />

the developmental concepts <strong>of</strong> procurement law.<br />

MGT 5240 BUSINESS AND LEGAL ASPECTS OF INTELLECTUAL<br />

PROPERTY (3 credits). Examines patents, trademark, copyright and trade secret law.<br />

MGT 5270 SPECIAL TOPICS IN CONTRACTS MANAGEMENT (3 credits).<br />

Independent study with a faculty member in an area <strong>of</strong> contract management in<br />

greater depth than is normally possible in a regular class. Requires a comprehensive<br />

term paper. (Requirement: Instructor approval.) Prerequisites: MGT 5211.<br />

MGT 5500 INTEGRATED LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT (3 credits). Provides<br />

the framework for integrated logistics support (ILS). Discusses the management tools<br />

available to logistics managers and places ILS in perspective within the acquisition<br />

process. Includes understanding <strong>of</strong> all elements <strong>of</strong> ILS, the relationship <strong>of</strong> ILS elements<br />

to ILS planning and current systems acquisition practices.<br />

MILITARY SCIENCE<br />

MSC 1001 MILITARY SCIENCE 1 (1 credit). Studies the history, mission and<br />

organization <strong>of</strong> Army ROTC and the U.S. Army; customs, courtesies, squad organization<br />

and first aid; and leadership development through practical exercises. Academic<br />

classes meet one hour weekly. Leadership lab meets 1.5 hours weekly. Optional:<br />

Ranger Company, Cadet Club, Color Guard, Drill Team and field exercises.<br />

MSC 1002 MILITARY SCIENCE 1 (1 credit). Studies the history, mission<br />

basic leadership and continued leadership development through practical exercises;<br />

Army communications procedures. Academic classes meet two hours weekly.<br />

Color Guard, Drill Team and additional weekend field exercises.<br />

MSC 2002 MILITARY SCIENCE 2 (2 credits). Land navigation and map reading;<br />
