Sustainable leadership develops environmental diversity and capacity.With sustainable leadership in schools, there is always room for diversity inthe learning depth and environment; this is due to the fact that there arealways multifarious ways of approaching issues. In other words, “sustainableleadership recognizes and cultivates many kinds of excellence in learning,teaching, and leading and provides the networks for these different kinds ofexcellence to be shared.” (A. Hargeaves and D. Fink, 2003)7. Sustainable leadership undertakes activist engagement with theenvironment:No matter how helpful or unhelpful the environment is, sustainable leadershiphas an activist dimension. There are; however, problems of resources relatedto time, money and support, but the process should be kept.ConclusionLeadership in education is a distributed necessity. If we are to make itsustainable, it must be a shared responsibility among all the partners. Parentsmust be present in the educational scene; teachers must be convinced that it ispart of their job to develop leadership skills at school for the quality learning itgenerates. Also, there should be stability at the level of administration of schoolswhose staff needs intensive basic training both on effective leadership andmanagement. Besides, students must share certain leadership functions. Theyshould be encouraged to be very active and responsible citizens. They shouldalso be motivated and trained to undertake high commitment and engagement inlearning.
