GLOSSARY - 129HIGH PASS FILTER - See FilterIINPUT - a jack which only accepts incoming signals. It must be connected to an output.INTERNAL CLOCK - A device which puts outa continuous stream of trigger pulses which canthen control the timing of the S/H unit and theelectronic switch. It’s output is a square wave.INTERVAL LATCH - A footswitch connectoron the keyboard which allows users to ‘hold’ acertain interval as notes are played up and downthe keyboard. Available only in duophonic mode.INVERT - The act of flipping a signal upsidedown at the 0 volts mark, which effectively putsit 180 degrees out of phase with the original incomingsignal.INVERTER - A device which flips a signal at the0 volts mark. The result is that the signal will be180 degrees out of phase with the incoming signal.JJACK - A small hole which the plug of a patchcord is plugged into. It allows electrical connectionsto be made between modules.KK - Abbreviation for Kilo or 1000KEY TRACKING - A feature of the filter inwhich a small amount of the keyboard’s controlvoltage is few to the filter’s control inputs for thepurpose of minutely increasing or decreasing thefilter’s Fc as higher or lower notes are played onthe keyboard. This insures that the timbre will remainconstant across the keyboard’s range. If keytracking is not employed, the higher notes willbecome duller while the lower notes will bebrighter since the higher notes’s highest harmonicswill be attenuated by the filter as they reachthe cutoff frequency.KEYBOARD- the part of the 2600 that actuallyhas the keys on it. It also includes the keyboardcontrols.KEYBOARD CONTROL VOLTAGE - A controlvoltage produced by the keyboard to representthe pitch being played.LLAG PROCESSOR - A voltage processor whichincreasing the amount of time a control signaltakes to change from one voltage to the next. Theamount of time the lag processor takes to makethis change is known as the lag time. When thekeyboard CV is patched through the lag processor, portamento results.LAG TIME - See lag processorLF MODE - A mode in which an oscillator ismade into a Low Frequency Oscillator or LFO. Inthis mode, the keyboard no longer controls thefrequency of the oscillator, and the oscillator willusually oscillate in the sub-audio range. See LFO.LFO - Low Frequency Oscillator. An oscillatorused for modulation whose range is below theaudible range (20 Hz). LFOs are commonly usedin frequency modulation to create vibrato.LINEAR - The opposite of exponential. The voltagebeing put into a circuit will produce a proportionalamount of change in that circuit.
