GLOSSARY - 135VOLTAGE CONTROLLED FILTER - A modulewhich allows the user to remove and/or accentuateharmonics from incoming waveforms.The frequency at which it begins to attenuate signalscan be controlled by an incoming controlvoltage. Its cutoff slope can be altered by addingresonance.VOLTAGE CONTROLLED OSCILLATOR -A Module which creates the raw sound which isshaped by all of the other modules. It creates awaveformVOLTAGE QUANTIZER - A module whichcauses voltage to be changed (either increased ordecreased) to a specified value. These values areusually set up so that voltages will always fall ona note of a chromatic scale, thus making it easierto select a particular note. Two of these modulesare found on the ARP sequencer.VOLUME - See Amplitude.WWAVEFORM - A repeating pattern of voltagesproduced by an oscillator whose shape determinesthe timbre of the sound. It’s height determines theamplitude or volume of the sound. Its frequencyor speed in repeating determines the pitch of thesound.WHITE NOISE - A random amount of all frequenciessimultaneously. This is usually producedby the noise generator.ZZERO - The process of resetting all knobs, slidersand switches to their default location and removingall patch cords.
