© Siemens AG 2010SIMATIC ET 200MThe S7-300 I/O with high channel densityThe ET 200M distributed I/O system is modularly designedwith IP20 degree of protection. Up to 12 multi-channel signalmodules (e.g. 64 digital inputs) and function modulesas well as S7-300 communications processors can be usedas I/O modules – the interface to the process. There are no slot rules. Hot swapping and expansion of modulesis permissible when using active bus modules.Connection to PROFINET and PROFIBUS is made via interfacemodules. In addition to screw-type and spring-loaded terminals, connectionof the signals can be made even simpler and fasterusing SIMATIC TOP connect. Preassembled front connectorswith single conductors and a complete plug-in modular systemare available. FastConnect plugs do not require the cablesto be stripped. The cable is simply plugged in and the contactis made using the insulation displacement method. The PROFINET version of the ET 200M offers new functions,e.g.:• Shared device• Media redundancy protocol (MRP)When the ET 200M is operated with an S7-400H/FH onPROFIBUS, the availability of the plant can be increased:• Switched connection:One ET 200M with two interface modules• Redundant connection:Two ET 200M with one interface module eachWhen the ET 200M is connected to PROFIBUS on an S7-400,the controller can be configured during normal operation(Configuration in RUN - CiR).In this manner,• complete ET 200M I/O stations can be added,• individual modules can be added within a station, and• individual digital and analog module parameters can bemodified.ET 200M with PROFINET connection and S7-300 modulesFastConnectThe insulation displacementmethod Fast Connectoffers even more benefitswhen wiring the I/O modules:• Available as 20-pole and40-pole variants• Suitable for all S7-300I/O modules• Permissible core crosssections:0.5 … 1.5 mm²• Suitable for rigid andflexible conductors• Opening for test tip witha diameter of up to1.5 mm• Time savings of up toFastConnect plug for ET 200M60% for installation ascompared to conventionalconnection methods• No stripping or crimping necessary• Easy, secure installation with a screwdriver• Reduction in the number of installation errors• The stripped length does not have to be determinedHot swapping of signal modules is possible, thus reducingdowntimes. Failsafe I/O modules permit the integration insafety-related plants with SIMATIC Safety Integrated.SIPLUS components allow for operation also in the expandedtemperature range -25 °C... +60/70 °C and in corrosiveatmosphere or under condensation(exact details at www.siemens.com/siplus).34SIMATIC ET 200M
