This correlateswith previous discussions with Woodside, the main oil and gas sector employer in the Shire, who advisea total stable operational workforce of around 1,000 in the Shire, of whom around 300 are FIFO.This will be accompanied by a corresponding reduction in demand for camp beds in the Shire ofRoebourne, although the CME study does study show a significant increase in demand in the Shire ofEast Pilbara – requiring over 17,000 additional camp beds by 2017). This shows the volatile nature ofdemand when major construction activity is driving it. It also is a source of potential business for Karrathafirms that are able to service remote transient communities.46
