Parents’ DayIt is only fitting and proper that our parentsshould visit us during the course of the schoolyear. In order that they may have a clearerconception of the results of their sacrifices, wehave set aside one day of each year for theirvisitation of our school. On this day we try toshow our parents, by arranging a special program, our accomplishments here at school andat home through summer project work. Bydemonstrating our achievements we feel that weare repaying a small part of the sacrifice-, thatour parents have made in order to make oureducation possible.Over five hundred parents attended the seventeenthannual Parents’ Day, which was held onOctober 31. This was the largest group of parentsthat ever gathered on the school campus.Ideal weather and good roads contributed muchto the success of the day-the day which hascome to be the most important day of the year. The forenoon was devoted to the visiting ofclasses, followed by the Parents’ Day dinner inthe school dining hall, where the parents wereguests of the students.A special program was presented by the studentsin the auditorium at 2 o’clock. The pro-gram included selections by the school orchestraunder the direction of Miss Marian Nelson, instructorin piano; address of welcome by RaymondHiggin, Bronson ; girls’ home project demonstrationand style show under the direction ofMiss Kingston and Miss Bede, with Ruth Lerudas chairman ; a boys’ home project demonstrationunder the supervision of E. A general get-together offaculty and parents added much to the occasion. At four o’clock refreshments were served, withMiss Retta Bede in charge. Many of the parents left shortly after lunch, but a number of them remained for the movie inthe auditorium in the evening, which brought toa close another happy and eventful day.It is thus that we did our utmost to give to ourparents a picture of our school life, as we live it.Page 16
