Part VI ABOUT THE AUTHORSThis Manual is prepared through the indefatigable efforts of the following authors, who are former trainees <strong>and</strong> trainers of the<strong>Mediation</strong> Qualification Programme by GIZ CPS <strong>and</strong> inmedio Berlin (Institut fuer <strong>Mediation</strong>, Beratung, Entwicklung GbR/Institute for <strong>Mediation</strong>, Consulting, Development). Most of them are now certified facilitative mediators.is a conflict prevention <strong>and</strong> peace-building programme officer for the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) assigned to the <strong>Ethiopian</strong> Ministry of Federal Affairs. Atkilt has nearly 18 years experience in the peace <strong>and</strong> securitysector, working for government, civil society, international NGOs <strong>and</strong> the UN as security analyst, trainer <strong>and</strong> capacity-buildingofficer, peace-project manager, national peace advisor <strong>and</strong> UNDP project officer in the Peace-Building Programme. Holding asumma cum laude M.A. degree in development studies, coupled with several trainings he has taken in <strong>and</strong> outside of Ethiopia,Atkilt is one of the most highly-accredited senior practitioners assisting the development of sustainable systems for the preventionof violent conflicts in Ethiopia.is working as a GIZ CPS national peace expert in the House of Federation (HoF) in Addis Ababa.Bizuneh worked in different capacities ranging from professional services to leadership in Oromia Regional State (ORS) from1996–2010. He also served as ORS’s zonal project coordinator for reinsertion <strong>and</strong> reintegration of demobilised veterans. He hasproduced various development projects <strong>and</strong> action researches for policy formulation <strong>and</strong> strategy building, particularly in theareas of social-conflict prevention <strong>and</strong> peace building. In his current position he engages in capacity-building <strong>and</strong> other conflictprevention,resolution <strong>and</strong> peace-building activities. He is also a counterpart consultant for the joint National Conflict Mapping<strong>and</strong> Analysis project of the HoF <strong>and</strong> the IPSS, which is implemented from 2011–2013.A sociologist (M.A.) <strong>and</strong> certified mediator, Claudia has been engaged in peace-building work in Israel, Zimbabwe<strong>and</strong> Ethiopia. Since the year 2000, she has worked in various positions at CPS. Establishing CPS Ethiopia in 2007, she steered theprogramme as programme coordinator until 2012. Claudia is responsible for the conceptualisation <strong>and</strong> facilitation of the <strong>Mediation</strong>Qualification Programme <strong>and</strong> has worked intensively with inmedio to bring together wise-counsel <strong>and</strong> facilitative mediation.studied practical journalism <strong>and</strong> politics in Berlin, Germany, <strong>and</strong> worked for different media companiesfor ten years. After attending the four-month qualification programme at the Academy for Conflict Transformation of the ForumCivil Peace Service in Bonn, Germany, <strong>and</strong> becoming a certified peace <strong>and</strong> conflict consultant in 2002, she worked for conflictprevention <strong>and</strong> peace building in different countries. In 2012, Dagmar joined the GIZ CPS Ethiopia team in the role of coordinatorafter she served in Northern Irel<strong>and</strong> (<strong>Mediation</strong> Northern Irel<strong>and</strong>), Kosovo (UNDP/UNV) <strong>and</strong> the Philippines (GIZ CPS).104 <strong>Mediation</strong> Trainer’s Manual
