To whom it may concern:
I hereby confirm that the SJSU urban modelling group is extremely interested in joining
the EC 7FP proposal MEGAPOLI (Megacities: Emissions, urban, regional and Global
Atmospheric POLlution and climate effects, and Integrated tools for assessment and mitigation)
as a collaborating partner.
As stated in the project proposal, the main goals of MEGAPOLI include: assess impacts
of megacities on local, regional, and global air quality; quantify feedbacks between megacity
air quality, local and regional climate, and global climate change; and develop improved
integrated tools for prediction of air pollution in megacities.
The SJSU urban modelling group specializes in development of highly urbanized numerical
mesoscale meteorological models for urban climate, air quality, emergency
response, and climate change impacts. We are thus pleased to collaborate with the
MEGAPOLI team. As a collaboration institution SJSU will especially follow and contribute
to the progress in Work Packages 2 (megacity features) and 3 (megacity plume
case study).
SJSU would like to express our full support for the proposed Project as a basis for the
future collaboration between the MEGAPOLI project and SJSU, as we already have
ongoing collaborations with several groups involved in the current proposal.
