This course is graded P/CR/NC only.Prerequisites: DANC 223 and DANC 224.Curriculum, principles and methods of teachingcreative movement and dance in the elementaryschool. Topics include lesson planning, classroommanagement, spatial perceptions, andmovement characteristics of the child throughadolescence, including the handicapped andlearning disabled. Includes historical perspectiveson movement and dance education.Offered alternate years. III.O.Prerequisites: One 100-level DANC course, one200-level DANC course, and permission of theinstructor. Pursuit of an upper level researchproject determined in advance by the student inconsultation with a faculty member who will actas the sponsor.An independent project for the senior dancemajor resulting in the presentation of a recitaland paper.Prerequisites: DANC 221, DANC 222, DANC223, and DANC 224. Critical study of danceworks of major choreographers in differentdance styles; how technique and subject, formand content converge in dance works. Visitinglecturers in philosophy and criticism. Viewingof dance films, videos and dance performances.Offered alternate years. III.W
