The mission of the business program is toenable its graduates to be successful in theworld of business. The business major requiresa mastery of business theory and the developmentof skills in a broad range of functionalareas. Graduates will demonstrate strong communicationskills, the ability to analyze andsynthesize, and an understanding of the broadcultural and social context in which businessoccurs.Recognizing that work experience is criticalin the learning process, experiential learning isan integral part of the program. Our graduatesare expected to acquire knowledge of businesstheories as well as developing practical skills inapplying these theories. These applications aredemonstrated by using various teaching methodsand evaluated on a graduated scale as thestudent moves through the program.For success in the world of work aftergraduation or graduate study, our graduatesare expected to develop skills in finding jobs, injob performance, and in career management.Consequently, the curriculum is designed togive individual students a hands-on grasp ofbusiness methods, business cultures, and personnelinteractions typically found in businessorganizations. Recognizing that work experienceis critical to the student learning process,work experience is simulated in class projects,cases, and labs while actual work experienceis the task of our integrated, multiple-stageinternship program.A student considering the business majoris strongly advised to take BUSN 127, BUSN128, BUSN 131, BUSN 150, BUSN 210, andMATH 205 by the end of the second year.
