Dear Mom
Glenn Miller and His Orchestra drew 7,300 people at the
Hollywood Palladium, for the first military ball in twenty
years. Stacked with movie stars, the ball was a benefit for
an Army hospital. (DB, May 15, 1942; GMPR)
Apparently this was Miller’s only appearance at the Hollywood
Palladium during this trip to the coast as “Palladium
and Glenn Miller couldn’t get together on dates and dough
so Miller will not play the big Sunset Blvd. Dine and
dancer on this trip.” (DB, May 15, 1942)
