The Modernaires
(Flossy Frills and Ben Lorre)
(Edited by Glenn Miller)
All tunes 1 take. (RCA Victor)
This session lasted from 9:00 am to 3:35 pm. (RCA Victor)
Although Jerry Gray is shown as the arranger on Kalamazoo
it must be noted that this was for the band portion only
and that for the vocal part Bill Conway arranged the
harmony and Hal Dickinson arranged the verse.
The long introduction to Serenade in Blue was arranged by
Billy May while the rest of the tune was arranged by Bill
Finegan.
Flossy Frills, shown as one of the writers of Knit One,
Purl Two, was a fictional cartoon character that appeared
in the Hearst chain of newspapers. Hearst, apparently on a
patriotic kick, decided to have Flossy Frills ask Glenn
Miller to help her write a tune, and therefore, her name is
included on the label as being a composer. Ben Lorre is
probably the only writer on this tune.
