According to the Glenn Miller files this was the 38 th and<br />

last week of the “Sunset Serenades”.<br />

Glenn Miller and His Orchestra played at the Municipal<br />

Auditorium, Kansas <strong>City</strong>, Kansas, from 9:00-1:00 am, and<br />

drew 9,004. This was not only the biggest one-nighter in<br />

Kansas <strong>City</strong>’s history but it was also the biggest onenighter<br />

gross in the band’s history and Miller’s share of<br />

Glenn Miller and His Orchestra played at the Val Air<br />

Ballroom, Des Moines, Iowa, from 9:00-1:00 am, and earned<br />

Glenn Miller and His Orchestra played at the Prom Ballroom,<br />

St. Paul, Minnesota, from 9:00-1:00 am, land drew 6,500.<br />

For these four one-nighters Glenn Miller earned $13,616.31<br />

which was considered Miller’s biggest take for four<br />

consecutive nights. All dates were for 60 per cent from the<br />

Around this time Glenn Miller was in Chicago and indicated<br />

to reporters that he might join the Navy later in the year.<br />
