The scoped pistol for tournamentshooting is a relatively new idea.Much has been done in the area of thedevelopment ofextended eye reliefscopes.Much more needs to be done in the area ofmounting systems.The pistol scope, while a little slow incatching on, is here to stay simply becausea shooter can shoot more accurately with ascope sight. It certainly is a boon to themiddle-aged shooter who is having troubleseeing the iron sights clear enough to stayin the nine and ten ring. Because of therole the handgun plays in our society, ascoped handgun is somewhat difficult toconceive. But for those interested in hittinga small mark with a target pistol, they oweit to themselves to try the scoped pistol.'They will be pleasantly surprised. Onthose days when your holding ability is' atits best, a scope shooter's reticle hangssteadily on the nine and ten ring as a tightgroup of bullet holes eat out the center of~he bullseye.
