NATIONAL PARKSThere are 92 existing national parks in India covering an area of 38,569.66 km2, whichis 1.17% of the geographical area of the country (National Wildlife Database, July2004). In addition to the above 74 national parks covering an area of 16,630.08 km2are proposed in the Protected Area Network.
