They can enhance circulation by accentingimportant roadway nodes. They can add seasonal emphasis to gateways and monuments, or divert theobserver’s attention from a less than enthralling view or vista. Accent plantings within the corridor should bedesigned to provide at least three seasons of interest. This can be achieved by using a combination of plants or asingle plant with multiple seasonal characteristics. Accent concepts can be further enhanced by repetition ofsignificant characteristics at similar locations throughout the Corridor. For instance, a certain combination ofplantings could be repeated at all secondary gateway sites. This would add unity to the project and help travelersidentify when they are approaching a secondary gateway.
