While thesummary below does not containsufficient detail to allow for a fullunderstanding of the financial affairsof PHSO, it is consistent with the fullannual accounts and auditor’s report,which should be consulted for furtherinformation.The Comptroller and Auditor General,who has been appointed by theParliamentary and Health ServiceOmbudsman as auditor, has given anunqualified audit opinion on PHSO’sResource Accounts.Statement of the Comptrollerand Auditor General to the Housesof ParliamentI have examined the Summary FinancialStatement of the Parliamentary and HealthService Ombudsman comprising asummary financial review, resource outturn,operating cost and cash flow statementsfor the year ended 31 March 2008 and asummary balance sheet at that date.The Ombudsman is responsible forpreparing the Summary FinancialStatement. My responsibility is to reportto you my opinion on its preparation andconsistency with the full Resource Accounts.I have conducted my work in accordancewith Audit Bulletin 1999-06, The auditors’statement on the summary financialstatement issued by the Auditing PracticesBoard. My certificate on the full accountsof the Parliamentary and Health ServiceOmbudsman describes the basis of myopinion on these accounts.
